The Prosecutor General's Office will investigate the increase in utility tariffs.
After the increase in utility rates from July 1, public outcry began in several regions. Many citizens complained about a sharp rise in bills despite the declared nationwide average indexation of 11.9%.
In response to these appeals and media coverage, Russia's Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov ordered a large-scale investigation. Particular attention will be paid to the actions of local authorities and organizations responsible for housing and utilities services.
Prosecutors must determine how justified the inclusion of various expenses in the tariffs was. If violations are found, a comprehensive set of measures will be implemented to restore citizens' rights.
