      According to the regional State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, in the past six months, 59 people have died and 856 have been injured on the region's roads. Compared to last year, the total number of accidents has decreased by 3.6%, but the number of fatalities has increased, on the contrary. The highest number of fatal cases occurred on roads in Kirov, Yaransky, Slobodsky, Verkhnekamsky, Vyatskoye-Polianinsky, Shabalinsky, and Pizhansky districts. Only in Kirov, accidents claimed the lives of 12 people and injured another 432 residents. In the Sanchursky, Oparinsky, and Bogorodsky districts, no accidents with fatalities or injuries were recorded over six months. The most common type of accidents in the region involve car collisions—most often caused by driving into oncoming traffic. In just six months, 24 people died and 102 were injured on the oncoming lanes. Another widespread cause of accidents is speeding: 17 lives were lost and 263 injuries occurred over the same period. The number of pedestrian collisions is decreasing—with a 6.7% reduction compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, in half a year, 12 pedestrians were killed at crosswalks, and 164 pedestrians were injured. Conversely, statistics on drunk-driving accidents have increased: over six months, 76 accidents involved drivers under the influence, which is 16% more than the previous year. The result: 15 fatalities and 103 injuries. During this period, inspectors have identified over 383,000 traffic violations, nearly 86% of which were recorded by cameras. The majority of violations involved speeding—almost 310,000 incidents. More than 5,000 drivers drove into oncoming traffic without permission. Additionally, 1,747 drivers were caught driving under the influence or refusing medical examinations.
