In the past week, 2,069 people sought medical assistance with complaints of tick bites. Among them are 258 children (more than 12%).
In a week, 25 cases of tick-borne encephalitis were laboratory confirmed, including three minors. Additionally, 26 cases of borreliosis were detected, with three patients being children.
More than 60% of the examined ticks carried the borreliosis pathogen. Ticks with encephalitis virus (1.9%), ehrlichiosis (12.2%), and human granulocytic anaplasmosis (0.32%) were also found.
Almost 2,400 residents of the region contacted medical professionals due to ticks in a week.
