Newly minted citizens of the Russian Federation were found in Kirov, avoiding the military enlistment office
On June 9, in Kirov, employees of the military investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov garrison and the 482nd military investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Strategic Missile Forces conducted an inspection of construction sites for compliance with migration legislation. The focus was on the so—called former migrants, foreign citizens who had acquired Russian citizenship but had not fulfilled their military registration obligations.
According to the law, from the moment of taking the oath, newly minted male citizens of military age are required to apply to the military enlistment office within two weeks. However, as the raid showed, not everyone complies with this requirement.
Similar inspections are taking place all over the country, and the Kirov region is no exception. Employees of the departments check markets, bases, construction sites and retail outlets — places where foreigners who have received a Russian passport work. With the acquisition of citizenship, they receive not only rights, but also duties, representatives of law enforcement agencies emphasize.
"In the future, the persons identified during the raid will be taken to military commissariats for military registration. In some cases, the issue of deportation is being resolved as a measure of responsibility for violating migration laws," the department said.
According to investigators, since the beginning of 2025 alone, about a hundred violators have been identified in the Kirov region. All of them are registered for military service. Some of them have already signed contracts and are doing military service, including in their military area.
