The commission called the icing of the engines the cause of the helicopter crash near Darovsky
Following the helicopter crash near the village of Beleenki in the Darovsky district, the Interstate Aviation Committee formed a commission to investigate the causes of the helicopter crash. Today, on June 3, the final report of the investigation results was published on the agency's website.
According to the government of the Kirov region, with reference to the commission's data, the helicopter was in good working order, and its technical characteristics met the established requirements. "On October 26, difficult weather events were observed with the crest of an anticyclone along the flight route to Darovskaya and back to Kuchany airport. The report states that the aircraft commander twice checked with the weather forecaster on duty whether there was an adjustment to the weather forecast. On that day, the forecasters did not predict icing in the night forecast for the return flight. The flight was coordinated with the dispatcher. Thus, the commander had no information about the presence of icing conditions under the clouds due to precipitation and decided to perform the flight in accordance with the mission," the report says.
According to the Mi-2 helicopter operation manual, the aircraft commander preemptively turned on the engine de-icing system, which is installed on helicopters of this type. "But in the prevailing weather conditions, this turned out to be insufficient," the document says. In the report, experts noted that the most likely reason for turning off the engines was a malfunction due to icing. "Also, as a result of a detailed study of the engines, no technical malfunctions were found that led to the failure," the experts said.
Oleg Kochkin, President of Vyatkaavia, noted that even the high professionalism of the pilot could not prevent the tragedy: poor visibility and the transience of the situation made it impossible to choose a site for an emergency landing.
As a result of the crash of a sanitation helicopter in the Darovsky district, four people were killed: doctor Alexander Gyska, paramedics Sergey Shirokikh and Tatiana Gmyzina, as well as pilot Valentin Komlev. They were returning from Darovskoye, where doctors were trying to save a local resident. As it became known later, the Mi-2 helicopter had been in operation for almost 38 years. Lenta.ru . According to the publication, it was created in Poland. At first, the helicopter was used in the USSR Air Force, then it was transferred to the Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy of Russia. Recently, Vyatkaavia Airlines has used the Mi-2 as an ambulance helicopter. In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Order of Pirogov to three medical workers who died in a helicopter crash on October 26. Putin noted that they showed high professionalism and dedication in providing medical care in extreme conditions.
