In the Kirov region, the boundaries of quarantine zones were changed due to the golden nematode

On the territory of the Kirov region, changes have been made to the boundaries of quarantine phytosanitary zones for the quarantine object — the golden potato nematode (Globodera rostochiensis). The updates affected 574 hectares in the Verkhoshizhemsky district and were issued by an order of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration dated May 26, 2025.

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Kirov Region, the Udmurt Republic and the Perm Territory, changes were made to the previously valid order No. 85 dated January 19, 2010, taking into account the current requirements of legislation in the field of plant quarantine and the standards of STO VNIIKR. The document includes amendments concerning the procedure for the introduction of quarantine regimes and the establishment of zones where special phytosanitary measures are in effect.

Quarantine regimes are aimed at timely localization of foci and prevention of the spread of nematodes, a pest that infects potatoes and causes serious damage to crops.

The full text of the order, a map of the established zones, a program for the localization and elimination of the pest, as well as a list of restrictions can be found on the Department's website.
