The case of an abusive mother who tortured her children went to court.

      In December of this year, a 45-year-old resident of the Falen district systematically beat her 8-year-old son with a rubber hose and a broom on his arms, legs and back. In addition, the woman, who was "raising" four children, aged 6, 8, 11 and 13, drank alcohol, repeatedly left the children at home unattended day and night, did not provide them with adequate nutrition, did not receive medical treatment, did not clean the house, and also showed aggression and anger towards the children.

      A criminal case was opened against the woman. She is accused of committing crimes under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code (torture of a minor) and Article 156 of the Criminal Code (failure to fulfill the duties of raising a minor).

      The investigation gathered a sufficient evidentiary base, and therefore the criminal case was sent to court for consideration on its merits.
