      For 14 years now, this large-scale educational project, which originated on Vyatka land at the initiative of Oleg Valenchuk, chairman of the Russian Horticultural Union and a State Duma deputy, has been helping gardening enthusiasts turn their plots into blooming oases and get rich harvests. More than a thousand lectures were given by leading agronomists of the Kirov region, sharing with people the invaluable experience gained over the years.

      The program is constantly expanding, adapting to modern challenges and new technologies in horticulture. In the last two years, lectures have become available to residents of the most remote settlements, as classes are held not only in person, but also online. This academic year, live broadcasts with lecturers were broadcast in more than 120 rural libraries in the Kirov region. Also, everyone could join them in the official group "Union of Gardeners of Russia — Kirov" Vkontakte. The total audience of online classes was about 35 thousand people.

      Gardening school is not just about theoretical knowledge. The end of the academic year is traditionally marked by the beginning of the "work quarter", when the acquired knowledge is applied in practice. This year, as before, the gardeners' work is accompanied by scientific online support. The VKontakte group has become a convenient tool for interaction between lecturers and listeners. Gardeners can receive live video responses from experienced agronomists to any questions they may have, without waiting for the next academic year. The archive of video recordings of past lectures is also available in the group, so that information is always at hand.

      - Our gardeners are tireless workers. They not only grow high-quality, environmentally friendly products, but also raise children and grandchildren, decorate their native land with flowers.… And our task is to support them," Oleg Valenchuk emphasizes. - The plans for the next academic year include expanding the geography of the project and including new topics reflecting current trends in horticulture and environmentally sound farming.
