How to profitably take a vacation in May: lawyer's advice
On the eve of the May holidays, a lawyer hh.ru Olga Vladimirova explained how to choose the right vacation dates in order to receive maximum payments.
According to her, it is most profitable to take a vacation in months with a large number of working days — they affect the amount of vacation pay. The fewer working days in a month, the lower the average daily earnings, from which payments are calculated.
So, April 2025 is a good choice for a vacation: it has 22 working days. If you go on vacation from April 28 to April 30, you can rest for a whole week, since from May 1 to May 4 is a holiday weekend. At the same time, the employee will spend only three days of vacation.
May, on the contrary, is not the most profitable month for vacations. It has 20 working days and 11 days off. If you take a vacation from May 5 to May 7, you may lose money due to low average earnings. However, if you take a vacation from May 5 to May 11 inclusive, the payments will be higher, as they are calculated for a full week of rest.
The expert advises you to decide on a priority: to save vacation days or get more money.
