Kirov resident lost 190 thousand rubles after receiving a "photo" in Telegram

A 43-year-old Kirov resident contacted the police with a statement about illegal access to her personal data. According to the woman, a friend wrote to her in the Telegram messenger and sent her a file with the caption "Is that you in the photo?". The file had the .apk extension, which is typical for Android installation applications. The image did not appear when opened, but it soon became clear that the friend's account had been hacked.

As the police established, a malicious application was sent to the woman under the guise of a photo, allowing the attacker to gain remote access to her smartphone. Through a compromised device, the criminal entered the Gosuslug personal account and, using personal data, issued 12 microloans in various organizations totaling 190 thousand rubles.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident, and the perpetrators are being identified.

The police remind you: do not open suspicious files, even if they come from friends. Installation .apk files may contain malware, especially if they are obtained through messengers. It is recommended to limit the possibility of installing applications from third-party sources in the phone settings.
