Since the beginning of the year, more than 50 children have been injured in road accidents in the Kirov region.

According to Sergey Lobanov, acting head of the regional State Traffic Inspectorate, one dead child and 52 injured have already been recorded since the beginning of the year.

Statistics show that the largest number of injuries were sustained by child passengers - 29 people. Among the injured were also 22 young pedestrians and one teenage motorcyclist. The situation with minors driving motor vehicles looks particularly alarming — in 2024, the number of injured teenage motorcyclists has almost doubled compared to the previous year.

It is assumed that the preventive campaign "Follow the rules" will become a key tool in the fight against childhood injuries on the roads. From May 1 to October 31, the State Traffic Inspectorate, together with the Ministry of Education, the Children's Ombudsman and the public, will carry out a set of measures aimed at preventing accidents involving young motorcycle, bicycle, and personal mobility equipment drivers.

The comprehensive approach includes both training sessions with specialists and special raids to identify violations. Special attention will be paid to working with parents, who often become silent accomplices of violations — they allow children to drive vehicles without rights or disregard safety rules.

Konstantin Blagoveshchensky, Deputy Minister of Education of the Kirov region, stressed the importance of the joint work of teachers and parents in shaping children's culture of safe behavior on the roads. According to him, the responsibility for teaching children the rules of the road lies on the shoulders of adults.
