Fraudsters tried to deceive a Kirov resident through her student daughter

The criminals attempted to defraud a resident of Kirov, using her underage daughter for this purpose. It all started with a call to a 16-year-old student of one of the city colleges in a messenger. The unknown person introduced himself as an employee of the educational institution.

The caller convinced the girl to provide the codes from the SMS messages received from the Gosuslugi portal. He said it was necessary to attach a phone number to an electronic diary. Having received the codes, the attackers gained access to the information.

Then the student started receiving new calls. This time, the callers posed as employees of Gosuslug, Rosfinmonitoring, and police officers. They stated that the transfer of the codes allowed the criminals to enter her personal account, find out her mother's details and initiate the transfer of her money to "the needs of the armed forces of Ukraine." To prevent this, the girl was asked to transfer all her mother's savings and credit funds to a "secure account."

Using her mother's phone, the girl tried to apply for a loan to her and transfer the savings using the details dictated by the scammers. However, the loan was refused, and the bank blocked the savings transfer operation. After that, the mother and daughter realized that they had become the target of scammers.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact. An investigation is underway.
