The Ministry of Transport explained why the Kirov region will have to pay for a bridge in Tatarstan

As we wrote earlier, the authorities are looking for a contractor to inspect several bridges. One of them unexpectedly turned out to be a bridge over the Burets River in the Kukmorsky district of Tatarstan, through which the Kirov—Malmyzh — Vyatsky Polyany road passes.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport of the Kirov region explained that the bridge is indeed geographically located in a neighboring region. However, the highway is Kirovskaya, and the bridge belongs to it, so the Kirov region will have to maintain it, like all its other bridges. You can see how it all works on the map below.

"The road is owned by the Kirov region, and the land under it is also owned by the Kirov Region," the Ministry of Transport explained. — Accordingly, both the road and the bridge are under the jurisdiction of the Kirov region. Such situations often occur when federal or regional roads run along the borders of several subjects."

The department also explained why a bridge survey is needed in general: "A bridge survey is a planned work that is carried out both on new (after repair) bridges and on those awaiting repair. The survey is necessary in order to identify defects in the construction of the superstructures that affect traffic safety, load capacity and durability of the bridge. The survey will make it possible to set the operating mode of the bridge, set the load capacity parameters, and develop recommendations on the necessary work."
