Kirov student received a suspended sentence for participating in the deception of pensioners
In Kirov, a 17-year-old student of an agricultural college was found guilty of fraud. As it turned out in court, in July last year, members of a criminal group called elderly people and, posing as law enforcement officers, provided false information about an accident that allegedly occurred with their relatives. Then they offered to transfer the money to "resolve the issue" and release the loved ones from responsibility. The role of the convicted student was to visit the defrauded pensioners and take cash from them.
Thus, the young man received a total of 1 million rubles from two elderly Kirov residents, 86 and 73 years old. He transferred most of the money to his accomplices, and kept some of it for himself as a reward.
Initially, the court, agreeing with the prosecutor's position, sentenced the minor to 9 months of imprisonment in an educational colony. The court also ordered him to compensate the victims for material damage. His mobile phone, motorcycle and car were seized to secure the claims.
However, the student, his lawyer and his legal representative appealed the verdict. By the time the appeal was considered, they had submitted documents confirming the full payment of compensation to the victims. Considering this, as well as the defendant's age and the fact that he was being prosecuted for the first time, the regional court considered it possible to commute the punishment. The real term was replaced with a suspended one. At the same time, another mobile phone, which was used to commit crimes, was confiscated for state revenue. The investigation into other members of the fraudulent group is ongoing.
