In Kirov, a woman lost 21 thousand rubles due to a viral application in Telegram
A 60-year-old woman contacted the Kirov police with a statement about the theft of money from her bank account. The victim of fraud lost 21 thousand rubles. As it turned out, the day before she received a message in the Telegram messenger from a user whose name matched the name of her friend. To the text "Is that you in the photo?" a file was attached.
After trying to open the file, the woman did not see the image and did not attach importance to what had happened. However, the next day, when she tried to log into the bank's mobile app, she found that it was blocked. After checking, it turned out that a viral application was sent to her under the guise of a photo, which gave the attackers remote access to her smartphone. As a result, they were able to log into the bank's personal account and transfer money.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact. The police are identifying the suspects.
Law enforcement officials urge citizens to be careful when communicating online, not to open suspicious attachments and not to follow links from unknown senders. It is also recommended to limit the possibility of installing applications from unreliable sources on devices with the Android operating system.
