Hunters of bears, moose and wild boar will be chosen by lottery

      The Legislative Assembly of the Kirov region has considered a new bill that amends the process of allocating permits for hunting bears, moose and wild boar in publicly accessible hunting grounds. According to the draft, permits for all types of hunting, with the exception of those related to regulating the number of hunting resources, will be distributed using a random sample.

      One of the key changes is the new procedure for distributing permits for bear hunting in the spring period. Instead of queuing, as it was before, permits will be awarded by lottery, which is already used for summer and autumn hunting. Applications for participation in the bear mining permit lottery will be accepted from February 1 to March 1.

      In addition, the draft law provides for the requirement for hunters to indicate in the application information about the permission to store and carry hunting weapons, as well as provide a copy of it in order to participate in the distribution of permits for hunting bears, moose and wild boar.

      If the law is passed, it will enter into force on June 1, 2025.
