The central bank has limited currency withdrawals until September.

      According to the regulator's website, the Central Bank maintains restrictions on cash currency due to sanctions against Russia, which prohibit Russian financial institutions from buying the currency of Western countries.

      For citizens who opened a foreign currency account or deposit before March 9, 2022, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation maintained a limit on currency withdrawal in the amount of the remaining funds at midnight Moscow time on the specified date, but not more than 10 thousand US dollars or euros equivalent to this amount. The regulator noted that the restriction applies regardless of the currency of the deposit or account, provided that they have not previously implemented such an opportunity.

      The rest of the money, as before, will be available in rubles. The amount to be paid cannot be less than the amount calculated on the day of payment at the official exchange rate of the Central Bank for money deposited in the account before September 9, 2022. Funds deposited after the specified date are deposited at the bank's exchange rate on the day of issue. The Central Bank also maintained for six months a ban on banks charging citizens a commission when issuing currency from accounts or deposits.

      Currency transfers are also issued in rubles without opening an account and through electronic wallets. The amount issued cannot be less than the amount calculated on the day of payment at the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

      As for legal entities, non—resident legal entities will not be issued cash in US dollars, euros, pounds sterling and Japanese yen until September 9 of this year. There are no restrictions on other currencies.

      During the specified period, resident legal entities can receive cash from their accounts in US dollars, euros, pounds sterling and Japanese yen only for travel expenses, based on payment standards established in accordance with the law.
