Rospotrebnadzor shared tips on choosing and caring for flowers by March 8

Rospotrebnadzor has published recommendations on choosing fresh flowers to help customers choose a fresh and long-lasting bouquet by March 8. Experts advise paying attention to the condition of the stem, which should not be too dry. A sign of freshness is the presence of a "shirt" — the lower, rough petals of the peduncle. It is recommended to choose half—open buds, as well as check the elasticity of the petals - they should easily return to their original position. Experts warn against buying bouquets with an abundance of artificial decorations, as they can mask the staleness of the flowers.

To keep the bouquet pleasing to the eye for as long as possible, Rospotrebnadzor advises not to leave flowers without water, avoid sudden temperature changes, protect from wind and precipitation during transportation, and treat the stems and remove the lower leaves before placing them in a vase.

It is important to consider the rules of the neighborhood of flowers in a vase. It is not recommended to put together daffodils and lilies, carnations and roses, lilies of the valley and tulips. Red roses, lilies of the valley, and rhododendrons also don't get along with most other plants. The proximity to the thuja branch has a beneficial effect on flowers. To prolong the life of roses, tulips and carnations, you can add a pinch of sugar to the water.

Rospotrebnadzor reminds that according to the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2463 dated 31.12.2020, high-quality fresh flowers are not subject to return and exchange. Therefore, you should be especially careful when choosing a bouquet.
