Kirov residents have been warned about a new scam scheme involving the Wildberries and Ozon apps.
Fraudsters have started spreading false information on the internet about the need to delete the Wildberries and Ozon apps and reinstall them. This was reported to TASS by Alla Khrapunova, the deputy head of the People's Front project "For Borrowers' Rights."
According to the expert, the criminals use various pretexts. In particular, they claim that a dangerous update has been released or that the changes are related to the transition to payments in digital rubles. After that, users are offered to download a new app via a link from a message, email, or notification.
Khrapunova warned that in this way, fraudsters can gain access to users' data.
The expert emphasized that there is no need to delete marketplace apps due to such messages. They should only be updated after notification from the service itself in the personal account.
"No emails, notifications, or messages with links to download updates should be used," Khrapunova noted.
She also urged users to download apps only from verified stores and not to install programs from links that come from unknown senders.
