An electric train fatally struck an 85-year-old woman on the stretch near Kirov.

      A fatal incident involving an electric train has been recorded on the railway section Kirov — Krasnoselsky. As reported by the press service of the Central MCHS of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the emergency occurred on the morning of August 24.

      According to preliminary data, the train was traveling on a curved section of the track when an 85-year-old woman found herself on the rails. The train driver took measures to prevent a collision; however, it was not possible to avoid injury. The victim died from her injuries.

      Investigative authorities are conducting a preliminary investigation under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of railway transport"). As part of the inquiry, investigators are establishing the exact circumstances of the incident, as well as determining the causes and conditions that contributed to the tragedy.

      After the investigation is completed, a procedural decision will be made.

      In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee of Russia reminded citizens of the need to strictly adhere to safety rules on the railway and to cross the tracks only at specially equipped places, ensuring in advance that no train is approaching.
