Tourists from the Kirov region will be able to use 5G roaming in the Caribbean.

      In a number of countries — Tanzania, Portugal, Morocco, and Cyprus — MegaFon has entered into additional partnership agreements and expanded the list of networks where 5G connectivity is available. According to the operator's analytics, already 80% of tourists in the summer season of 2026 traveled to countries where the operator offers 5G roaming, allowing customers to experience the benefits of the new technology.

      For the first time, 5G roaming became available to users in Brunei and the Caribbean — Barbados, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands, where overall tourist traffic has increased by 1.5 times year-on-year. These distant countries attract snorkeling and diving enthusiasts with their coral reefs, diverse marine fauna, and sunken ships. Now, Russian tourists do not need to purchase a local SIM card to stay connected with loved ones and share their travel experiences at the highest speeds. Roaming in fifth-generation networks allows for fast data transmission and the use of digital services, watching high-definition videos, and listening to music on streaming services without delays and long loading times.

      The demand for mobile internet while traveling is confirmed by the operator's analytics based on anonymized data. For instance, in July, traffic volume in Jamaica increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. In Tanzania and Morocco, where 5G roaming capabilities were previously expanded, the growth was 66% and 28%, respectively.

      To correctly connect to new networks in foreign countries, it is necessary to check the capabilities of your device before traveling. Typically, high-speed internet is available in major cities and tourist locations, near attractions.
