According to the Telegram channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov," in the coming days, the region will be under the influence of an Arctic invasion. Amateur meteorologists analyzed three forecast maps and concluded that after August 12, the temperature will begin to drop sharply.
On the temperature map at an altitude of about 1500 meters, it is visible how a cold air mass is moving from the northwest into the central part of European Russia. In the Nizhny Novgorod region at this altitude, the temperature may drop to around 0 °C. This indicates the arrival of Arctic air, which will reach the Kirov region by the middle of next week. According to calculations from the German ICON model, the peak of the cooling will occur on August 15. If on August 12 the daytime temperature still reaches +25 °C, by August 15 it will drop to +15 °C. Night temperatures will also fall: from +14 °C on August 12 to +7 °C on August 15. Thus, the difference between the warm and cold day will be about 10 degrees.
A more detailed comprehensive forecast shows that the cooling will begin as early as August 13. During the day, temperatures are expected to be around +16…+18 °C, and from August 14 to 15, the temperature will remain in the range of +9…+14 °C. The coldest morning, according to this calculation, will be August 16 — around +6.5 °C, however, during the day the temperature will quickly rise to +14.7 °C, and by evening — to +18.8 °C. The cooling will be accompanied by precipitation. According to the comprehensive forecast, the most intense rains are expected on August 15: up to 3.6 mm over 6 hours in the morning hours, as well as light precipitation on other days. The dew point will drop from +12…+14 °C at the beginning of the period to +6…+8 °C at the height of the cooling, indicating the influx of drier and colder air.
Despite the sharp drop in temperature, the cooling will be short-lived. Already on August 17, according to ICON calculations, the daytime temperature may return to +23 °C. Thus, the Arctic invasion will bring several days of cool and rainy weather, after which warmth will return to the region.
Amateur meteorologists recommend that residents prepare for cool weather and rain in mid-August, especially during the period from the 13th to the 16th.
