Marriage for citizenship cost a Kirov resident a sentence.

      According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov region, a month after the registration of the foreigner, the defendant officially married him, although the spouses did not intend to start a family: they did not live together and did not manage a common household. In court, the woman fully admitted her guilt.

      The Oktyabrsky District Court of Kirov sentenced her to one year and six months of imprisonment. However, taking into account mitigating circumstances, the sentence was deemed conditional.

      In addition, the court ordered the confiscation of mobile phones that were used in the commission of the crime.

      Before the verdict was issued, the prosecutor's office also achieved the recognition of the fictitious marriage as invalid. The court granted the claim, after which the marriage registration was annulled.
