The preliminary version of the death of the spouses who drowned in the Vyatka has been named.

      The story of the disappearance of 46-year-old Elena Arafailova and 48-year-old Roman Arafailov, which stirred volunteers and police in early August, has received a preliminary explanation.

      The reason for the large-scale search was a report to the intermunicipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Kirovo-Chepetsky," received on the afternoon of August 3. The couple's son informed the operatives that his parents had gone to relax in nature on July 31. By the appointed time, the couple had not returned home and had not been in contact.

      Several organizations joined the search: the department's personnel received alerts, the search team "Lisa Alert" and concerned citizens were involved, and later, employees of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs joined them. During the search, the police established the couple's route and the place they went to relax — the bank of the Vyatka River near the village of Borovitsa.

      Two local residents helped locate the car. While floating down the river in a boat, they noticed a vehicle in the water. It was retrieved, and the bodies of the missing couple were found inside.

      The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kirov region clarified the circumstances. According to the preliminary version stated by the police, the couple fell asleep in the car, which subsequently rolled into the water. The regional investigative committee previously reported that upon examining the scene, no signs indicating a criminal nature of death were found. The investigation is ongoing.
