Fraudsters swindled more than 805 million rubles from residents of the Kirov region.
In the Kirov region, the number of victims of remote scammers continues to grow. According to the regional prosecutor's office, since the beginning of 2026, 2,117 people have fallen victim to fraudsters. Just in the last week, another 46 residents of the region were added to this list.
The total damage from the actions of the criminals has already reached 805.3 million rubles. Over the week, scammers stole another 10.3 million rubles from the residents of Kirov.
As noted by the prosecutor's office, the criminals use a variety of legends. They pose as employees of the prosecutor's office, the FSB, the tax service, the Bank of Russia, the "Gosuslugi" portal, the post office, "Energosbyt," and even workers from children's health camps.
To communicate, the criminals use not only phone calls but also messengers. To gain trust, they send victims fake IDs, certificates, and other documents. Moreover, scammers are increasingly using artificial intelligence technologies: they forge voices and images, and sometimes imitate the voices of their victims' relatives.
In some cases, couriers are involved in the criminal scheme, who collect money or carry out other tasks for the fraudsters.
The prosecutor's office of the Kirov region continues to protect the interests of the victims. Since the beginning of the year, 740 lawsuits have been filed in courts to recover stolen funds from the owners of bank accounts used in fraudulent schemes, as well as 51 lawsuits to declare invalid the loan agreements that the victims entered into under the influence of deception.
