The Russian government has decided to extend the ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2026. The restriction will apply to both fuel producers and other market participants. As reported by RBC, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
According to the official, the ban on diesel fuel exports, on the contrary, will be lifted as the situation in the domestic market stabilizes. This will allow refineries to avoid an oversupply of products and a decrease in processing volumes.
In addition, authorities are considering temporarily reducing the fuel sales norm on the exchange from the current 10% to 2% of production volume. Relevant acts will be adopted in the near future.
Novak also emphasized that the permission to produce Euro-3 ecological class gasoline is purely temporary and is related to the need to replenish fuel shortages. In the future, the country will return to producing only fifth ecological class fuel.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, if necessary, small volumes of petroleum products from Kazakhstan could become an additional source of supply. This option has already been discussed with the Kazakh side and is considered one of the measures to ensure stability in the fuel market.
