The Kirov region ranked in the middle of the rating for trade growth.
The Kirov region ranked 45th in the rating of Russian regions by the dynamics of retail trade turnover for January-May 2026. The study was prepared by experts from RIA Novosti.
In the first five months of the current year, retail trade turnover in the region increased by 5.3% compared to the same period last year. This is slightly above the national average, which was 5%. According to the study, retail trade turnover per resident of the Kirov region reached 140.2 thousand rubles. At the same time, the region's share in the total Russian retail trade turnover was 0.59%.
Among its closest neighbors in the ranking, the Kirov region was positioned between the Ryazan and Kurgan regions. The Ryazan region saw a growth of 5.4%, while Kurgan also had 5.3%, but it ranked lower in the final table.
The leader of the ranking was the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, where retail trade turnover grew by 18.8%. The top five also included the Ivanovo region (+12.2%), Krasnodar Krai (+11.5%), the Republic of Bashkortostan (+10.8%), and the Astrakhan region (+10.6%).
Experts note that as of January-May 2026, retail trade turnover increased in 84 regions of Russia, while it decreased in only one — the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where the indicator fell by 2.9%.
Separately, analysts assessed the volume of retail trade per resident. Here, Moscow leads with an indicator of 263 thousand rubles, followed by St. Petersburg (261 thousand rubles) and Sakhalin region (258 thousand rubles). According to experts, the positive dynamics in the retail trade sector will continue in the future due to wage growth.
