The prosecutor's office helps a pensioner recover half a million stolen by fraudsters.
The prosecutor's office of the Lenin district of Kirov conducted an investigation into the theft of money from an elderly woman. It was established that in 2025, telephone scammers deceitfully convinced the pensioner to transfer money to a "safe" account. The amount stolen exceeded 550,000 rubles.
A criminal case was initiated for fraud under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It was revealed that the stolen funds were transferred to accounts of fictitious persons (droppers) living in 12 regions of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Moscow regions, the republics of the North Caucasus, and Crimea.
The prosecutor filed lawsuits in court to recover the unjustly obtained funds and interest for their use from the account holders. Lawsuits against 10 defendants have already been satisfied, while the others are under consideration.
The enforcement of court decisions and the restoration of the pensioner's rights are under the control of the prosecutor's office.
The agency reminds that citizens who, due to health, age, or other reasons, cannot independently defend their rights have the right to contact the prosecutor's office. Prosecutorial protection in court is provided for in Article 45 of the Civil Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
