Attack on all "authorities": scammers tried to arrange a "counter loan" for a resident of Kirov.
First, a woman who introduced herself as an employee of the tax service called the resident of Kirov. She stated that suspicious activity had been noticed on the man's accounts and asked him to come to the FNS office for explanations. To schedule an appointment, the caller asked for the electronic queue code, which was supposedly sent to the man. After that, the conversation ended.
About half an hour later, the resident of Kirov received a call from a "support service employee of State Services." He informed him that the provided code had fallen into the hands of fraudsters. Supposedly, they gained access to the man's account, seized his personal data, and were now applying for a loan in his name.
Then a "Central Bank employee" got in touch. He reported that a loan for 980,000 rubles was already being processed in the name of the resident of Kirov. To cancel the application, the man was urgently offered to arrange a "counter loan."
The resident of Kirov contacted the bank, but his application was rejected. After that, the "Central Bank employee" stated that the man would now have to communicate with the FSB, as a fraud complaint had allegedly been filed against him.
Next, a man connected with the resident of Kirov via video call, showing his FSB employee ID. He stated that the man faced up to seven years in prison if he did not gather the necessary documents and follow further instructions.
At that moment, the victim realized that he had likely been communicating with the same person all along and reported to the police. A criminal case has been initiated. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and identifying those involved in the crime.
