In the Kirov region, poachers were convicted for shooting two moose.
The Soviet District Court examined a criminal case regarding illegal hunting that took place at the end of January 2025.
As established by the court, four men had previously agreed to go on a joint illegal hunt. Despite the ban, they went into the forest on a snowmobile with hunting rifles. During the hunt, the poachers shot two moose and wounded another, but were unable to find the animal.
According to experts, the damage caused to the hunting resources of the region amounted to 480,000 rubles.
The investigation also established that a fifth man was involved in the crime. He did not shoot but assisted the accomplices: he provided his house for storing the meat, advised on butchering the carcasses, and later sold the illegally obtained products.
In determining the punishment, the court took into account the confession of guilt, remorse, the presence of minor children among the defendants, and the full compensation for the damage caused.
As a result, all group participants were fined 80,000 rubles each and deprived of the right to hunt for one year. One of the convicted individuals was also found guilty of illegal possession of firearms and received a sentence of six months of restriction of freedom.
In addition, the court confiscated property used in the commission of the crime for the benefit of the state. The list included the snowmobile "Buran," the sled "Taiga," a Lexus car, as well as hunting carbines and rifles.
