While fishing and during a paddleboarding trip: two men drowned in the Kirov region in one day.
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov region, the body of a 69-year-old man with signs of drowning was found in the Pizhma River in the village of Obukhovo. Preliminary data suggests that the pensioner died while fishing.
On the same day, the body of a 32-year-old man was discovered in the Urtmin pond in the Yaran district. According to preliminary information, he drowned while paddleboarding.
Investigators have completed inspections of the accident sites, appointed necessary forensic examinations, and are conducting verification activities. Procedural decisions will be made based on the results of the inspections.
The regional investigative department once again reminded residents of the need to follow safety rules on the water. The agency recommends swimming only in designated areas, not entering the water while under the influence of alcohol, and using life jackets when in a boat.
In addition, the Investigative Committee reminded that the use of paddleboards is prohibited in stormy weather, at night, in poor visibility, while under the influence of alcohol, as well as near docks, bridges, navigation signs, areas where diving operations are conducted, and within buoyed beach zones.
