Scammers convinced a Kirov resident to give away 2 million.

In the Kirov region, law enforcement officers detained a courier for phone scammers who managed to receive 2 million rubles from a resident of the village of Kstinin. According to the police, a 41-year-old woman withdrew money from her bank account the day before, which she had previously received as a social payment. Soon, she received a call from unknown individuals who introduced themselves as FSB officers. They convinced the victim that the withdrawn cash was allegedly "marked" and needed to be urgently handed over for verification to a specialist. At the designated location, the woman met with a man whom the scammers presented as an "expert." While handing over the money, she mentioned a pre-agreed code word — "The sky is blue." After that, the courier took 2 million rubles and attempted to flee. Operatives from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kirov region identified the suspect within a few hours. A 30-year-old resident of the Perm region was detained at Kirov airport. During the interrogation, the man confessed to his guilt. All the stolen money was found and seized. The police reported that they would return it to the rightful owner in the near future. A criminal case has been initiated for fraud in a particularly large amount. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect. The police are currently investigating whether the detainee could have participated in similar crimes in neighboring regions.
