Severe workplace injury: Kirov operator injured while working with metal
An accident at an industrial facility was recorded at the moment the operator of the non-ferrous metal processing line was performing his direct duties. The man was preparing stacks of sheet material before their shipment to the etching shop.
According to the supervisory authority, preliminary data indicates that the incident was triggered by a physical factor: the load on the pallet was distributed unevenly. This caused the platform to lose stability—it moved along with the metal on it. As a result, the operator found himself in a confined space between the load and the structures, and his right leg was trapped.
The medical report recorded the severe nature of the injuries: open fractures of the bones of the lower leg and ankle area, as well as a dislocation and lacerations of soft tissues.
A. D. Loginov, the deputy head of the State Labor Inspection for the Kirov region, commenting on the situation, noted that currently, this is only a preliminary version. The exact reasons that led to the uneven distribution of the load and why the pallet shifted will need to be established during a special investigation. The agency is monitoring the progress of the inspection.
