Moscow Street in Kirov will be expanded to six lanes.

      The Kirov administration has approved the documentation for the planning of the street and road network area of Moskovskaya Street — from Theater Square to Builders Avenue. The resolution was signed on July 6, 2026, and published for public access.

      The project involves a comprehensive reconstruction of the highway, which is divided into three sections with different parameters.

      On the segment from Builders Avenue to Solnechnaya Street, the roadway will be widened to 24 meters with the organization of six lanes (3.5 meters each). A 2-meter-wide median strip with a barrier fence will also be added, along with edge safety strips of 0.5 meters on each side.

      On the section from Solnechnaya Street to Oktyabrsky Avenue, the road width will increase to 18 meters — up to four lanes. The edge strips here will be wider — 2 meters each.

      On the segment from Oktyabrsky Avenue to Derendyayeva Street, widening is not planned due to the proximity of residential building No. 57 on Moskovskaya. Instead, the possibility of organizing one-way traffic with a connection to a "ring" with Engels Street is being considered.

      The project also includes:

      - the construction of pull-in pockets at public transport stops;

      - the organization of additional parking spaces;

      - the construction of underground pedestrian crossings near bus stops;

      - an increase in the capacity of intersections through additional lanes for right and left turns, optimization of traffic light regulation, and installation of video cameras;

      - the appearance of a side road 5.5 meters wide on the section from Mendeleev Street to Lomonosov Street on the left side.

      At the intersection with Solnechnaya Street and Roman Yerdyakov Street, it is proposed to change the alignment of the latter — shifting it towards Solnechnaya. This will allow cars turning from Solnechnaya onto Roman Yerdyakov not to enter Moskovskaya, which should increase the capacity of the main highway.

      The total length of the reconstructed section is 4.2 kilometers. The calculated speed of movement is 70 km/h.
