The Kirov First May District Court found a 24-year-old local resident guilty of several criminal charges related to repeated driving under the influence and traffic violations.
According to the prosecutor's office of the First May District, the crimes were committed in August and October 2025. According to the investigation, the man repeatedly illegally got behind the wheel of other people's cars.
One of the most serious incidents occurred on the night of August 4, 2025. While driving a "VAZ-2109" belonging to a friend, the young man significantly exceeded the speed limit, lost control, and crashed into a road milling machine.
As a result of the accident, a 21-year-old passenger in the car sustained serious injuries. After the accident, the driver left the scene.
Before the verdict was delivered, the man paid the victim compensation for moral damages.
The court sentenced the Kirov resident to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. In addition, he was deprived of the right to drive vehicles for 5 years and 6 months.
