The rules for blood donors will be changed.
The changes are aimed at digitizing the blood donation procedure, reducing paper documentation, and increasing the safety of transfusions. Thus, before the first donation, medical organizations will be able to conduct rapid testing for markers of transfusion-transmissible infections—diseases transmitted through blood. In addition, future donors will be able to fill out a questionnaire and provide informed consent for medical intervention and the processing of personal data electronically. The storage periods for documents will also change. Currently, questionnaires and consents are stored for five years, but after the new rules come into effect, paper documents will be stored for 30 years, while information in the Unified Electronic Database will be kept for 50 years. The new requirements will take effect on January 1, 2027, reports "Gazeta.ru."
