Petunias disappeared, oaks broke: what happened in Kirovo-Chepetsk
Saturday in Kirovo-Chepetsk began with a discussion of two unpleasant incidents that occurred this week. Both involved green plantings, and both, according to the administration, fell into the category of barbaric acts.
The first episode unfolded on Pervomayskaya Street. Fifty petunia bushes disappeared from hanging pots secured to the road barriers. The flowers were carefully dug up — the city hall does not rule out that they now adorn someone's balcony or loggia. Where exactly remains a mystery.
The second case turned out to be more resonant. It occurred near the "Eternal Flame" — a place that is considered memorial in the city. Here, ten oak trees were planted in 2016. The trees took root and grew, but the day before, unknown individuals broke two large branches off one of them. The damage was serious — the branches had to be cut off. Fortunately, the tree itself survived, but the administration describes the situation as "alarming."
City hall reminds: the city continues to spend funds on greening, even under strict economic conditions. But saving greenery from vandals cannot be done alone.
The appeal to residents is simply neighborly: make remarks to those who break trees or dig up flowers. Even if they are children or teenagers who are just "playing around." The administration is confident that through joint efforts, what already exists can be preserved, and new vandalism can be prevented.
