Moose in the Kirov region have more space now.

The area of forested land in the Kirov region increased by 9 thousand hectares over the year. In this regard, the region ranks among the most forested in Russia, as we reported earlier.

The growth was made possible by systematic efforts: reforestation, agro-technical maintenance, aerial patrolling, and reducing illegal logging.

According to the All-Russian Research Institute of Hunting Economy, the population of most game animals in the region is stable or increasing. The area is home to more than 44 thousand moose — almost 4 times more than at the beginning of the 2000s. The number of hares, American minks, and muskrats is also increasing. The populations of lynx, beavers, badgers, capercaillies, black grouse, and hazel grouse remain stable.

Experts noted that this is facilitated by the work of the ministry and hunting users, who combat poaching and carry out biotechnical activities in hunting grounds.
