Kirov residents shared who they do not want to see their children become.
According to the survey results, 14% of parents named the profession of a janitor as undesirable. In second place were skilled trades, which 10% of respondents would not want to see their children pursue in the future. Rounding out the top three are police officers and officials, each at 8%.
6% of respondents admitted they would not want their children to become cleaners or salespeople. The same number of parents find the profession of a teacher or educator unattractive. Another 4% expressed opposition to a military career.
3% of survey participants would not want to see their children as accountants, medical professionals, bloggers, drivers, or managers. The least mentioned professions by residents of Kirov were artist, waiter, loader, and courier, each at 2%, as well as lawyer at 1%.
At the same time, 15% of parents stated that they are ready to support any professional choice of their child.
The study also showed differences between men and women. Fathers are more often concerned that their children will become officials, police officers, or drivers. Mothers, on the other hand, are more likely to worry that their child will work as a laborer, cleaner, salesperson, or accountant. Additionally, women are more willing than men to unconditionally support any career choice of their children—17% compared to 12%.
