A magnetic storm is approaching the residents of Kirov.
What to Expect on June 30
On Tuesday, June 30, a G1 (minor) level magnetic storm is expected. According to specialists' calculations, the probability of its occurrence reaches 87%. The peak of geomagnetic disturbances will occur in the morning hours — from 6:00 to 9:00.
By midday, the magnetosphere will begin to gradually calm down, and by evening, the geomagnetic background should fully normalize.
July 1: Decline in Activity
On Wednesday, July 1, solar activity will decline. The magnetosphere will gradually stabilize, and no significant disturbances are expected in the coming days.
July as a whole is forecasted to be relatively calm.
Sunspot Group 4478 — The Largest Active Region of 2026
Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory are drawing attention to sunspot group number 4478. It has reached an area of almost 1200 units (the exact value is 1190), making it the largest active region on the Sun in 2026.
The previous record holder — group 4366, observed in February — had a peak area of 1100 units and was remembered for a powerful X8.1 class flare.
At the same time, scientists note that the current sunspot group is behaving quite peacefully. The area is "boiling and bubbling," accumulating energy, but shows no tendency for major explosions. Occasionally, weak plasma clouds are ejected into space — one of them will reach Earth on June 30, and another on July 1. Tomorrow, June 30, the sunspot group will align exactly on the Sun-Earth line. What happens next depends on whether the massive cluster can break apart or, conversely, reach a dangerous peak of activity.
How to Survive a Magnetic Storm: Simple Tips
Geomagnetic disturbances can affect well-being: on such days, some people feel fatigue, headaches, mood swings, or experience sleep problems. This is related to the fact that changes in the Earth's magnetic field affect the nervous and cardiovascular systems. To reduce the risk of unpleasant sensations, specialists recommend preparing in advance.
Start with a routine: try to go to bed and wake up at the same time, allowing for at least 7–8 hours of sleep. Full rest helps the body cope better with any stresses, including geomagnetic fluctuations. Drink enough water — dehydration can worsen symptoms of discomfort. Avoid heavy, fatty foods, and limit coffee, strong tea, and alcohol. Physical activity is also important, but on days of magnetic storms, it's better to choose gentle exercises: instead of intense workouts, prefer light gymnastics, walking outdoors, or yoga. Such activities improve circulation and mood without overloading the body.
Specialists emphasize that the geomagnetic situation can change rapidly. The further development of the situation directly depends on solar activity — primarily on the strength and number of flares on the Sun, as well as the speed of solar wind streams heading toward Earth. Therefore, forecasts are regularly updated.

A magnetic storm is approaching the residents of Kirov.
In the coming days, the Earth is expected to experience geomagnetic fluctuations. According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF RAS, today, June 29, the magnetosphere remains calm — the probability of disturbances is estimated at only 10%. However, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, the situation will change dramatically.
