At the CHPP-5 in Kirov, they have begun major repairs on the second power unit.
At Kirov CHPP-5, a major overhaul of energy unit No. 2 has begun. This was preceded by similar procedures on the first and third units, which the energy workers have already completed as part of the preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period. Now, the focus of work has shifted to the remaining unit — the repair will last until August 20.
At boilers 2A and 2B, specialists have already begun replacing screen tubes, repairing burner devices, and draft fans. Additionally, plans include restoring regenerative air heaters and inspecting the metal of steam bypass pipes to assess their current condition.
For turbo unit No. 2, cleaning of the condenser and network heater piping systems from deposits is planned. A major repair of one of the feed electric pumps along with the check valve and inspection of pipe bends for micro-damages is also scheduled.
A separate scope of work concerns the turbo generator: specialists will extract the rotor, conduct defectoscopy of the band rings, and perform grinding of the contact rings. These measures are part of the diagnostics of the station's main equipment.
As noted by the director of the Kirov branch of "T Plus," CHPP-5 is a key facility for energy supply not only for Kirov but also for most of the region. Therefore, during the inter-heating period, the company focuses not only on creating fuel reserves but also on comprehensive diagnostics and repairs of the main and auxiliary equipment to minimize risks during the winter season.
