Since the beginning of the year, residents of Kirov have given more than 700 million to scammers.

In the past period of 2026, 1,841 residents of the region became victims of fraudsters, with another 69 people affected in the last week. The total damage exceeded 700.9 million rubles, with 76.3 million stolen just in the past week.

The criminals pose as employees of the prosecutor's office, FSB, tax service, Central Bank, the "Gosuslugi" portal, postal service, and energy suppliers. They use not only mobile communication but also messengers to contact victims. To enhance credibility, they send photos of fake IDs and certificates, and also involve third parties as couriers. During communication, they employ artificial intelligence technologies—altering images or voices, and can imitate the voice of a close relative.

The prosecutor's office has filed 645 lawsuits (+21 in a week) for the recovery of funds from account holders (so-called droppers) and 34 lawsuits to declare invalid the loan agreements concluded by victims under the influence of deception.
