Bastrikin became interested in the case of the pollution of the Chumovitsy River.
According to the agency, media reports have emerged about violations of environmental legislation in the Novovyatsky district of Kirov. As a result of the operations of one of the industrial enterprises, oil products have been discharged into the Chumovitsa River for two months, leading to water pollution, the spread of unpleasant odors, and the death of birds. Competent authorities, as noted in the release, have not taken any measures.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov region regarding this matter. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the acting head of the regional investigative department, Sultan Orazayev, to report on the preliminary and final results of the investigation, as well as on the measures being taken to protect the residents' rights to a favorable environment. The execution of the instruction has been put under control at the central office.
Let us remind you that on June 16, we reported that volunteers in Novovyatsk are rescuing birds that cannot take flight due to a viscous substance on their feathers. Local residents reported that the water near school No. 62 had turned black, rainbow streaks appeared, and a sharp smell of fuel oil was present. Tests showed that the concentration of oil products exceeded the maximum allowable concentration by more than three times. The enterprise was issued a warning, but the ONF called this measure insufficient and appealed to the environmental prosecutor's office.
