A man tried to light a cigarette from the Eternal Flame and can now "sit down."
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov region, the incident occurred on the morning of June 16 at the memorial complex "Obelisk to the Warrior-Workers of the Dock, who died during the Great Patriotic War" in the city of Kotel'nich. A 48-year-old man attempted to light a cigarette in the bowl of the Eternal Flame. A criminal case has been initiated against him under part 3 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rehabilitation of Nazism). Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. It should be noted that this is not the first similar case in Kotel'nich. In April, an 18-year-old resident of the city was convicted for a similar crime. In August 2025, he demonstrated a Nazi salute at a military memorial, filmed it, and published it online.
