Traffic lights will be changed on Moskovskaya Street in Kirov.
Starting Monday, June 8, a pilot project will begin in Kirov to change the traffic light regime on one of the busiest city highways — Moskovskaya Street. As reported by the city administration's press service, the decision is related to frequent complaints from drivers about traffic jams.
The new system will independently analyze traffic intensity and redistribute the operating time of traffic lights. If a large flow of cars forms in one direction, the green signal there will be able to last longer. In less congested areas, the time will be reduced, on the contrary.
The changes will affect the intersection of Oktyabrsky Avenue and Preobrazhenskaya Street, as well as the intersections of Moskovskaya Street with Oktyabrsky Avenue, Khlebzavodsky Passage, and the streets of Gorky, Solnechnaya, and Roman Yerdyakov. In addition, the new regime will operate at pedestrian crossings near houses No. 101 and No. 109 on Moskovskaya Street.
At several intersections, a conflict-free mode for pedestrians will also be introduced. This means that vehicle movement and pedestrian crossing will be separated by time.
During the testing period, countdown timers on traffic lights will be turned off. As specialists explained, this is necessary to reduce the risk of emergency situations.
The pilot project is scheduled for three weeks. During this time, specialists will assess the results of the system's operation and decide whether to implement it on other streets in the city.
