Old slides to be demolished: what is happening with playgrounds in Kirov
Let us remind you that earlier, on Children's Day, the editorial team of Newsler.ru examined the condition of playgrounds in different areas of Kirov. During the inspection, worn structures, damaged elements, trash near play areas, as well as playgrounds that, according to residents, have gradually disappeared to make way for parking lots or empty spaces, were noted.
After the publication of the material, we sent a request to the Kirov administration to find out who is responsible for the maintenance of the playgrounds and how their safety is monitored.
As explained by the city hall, responsibility depends on the location of the facility. If the playground is under the jurisdiction of territorial administrations, its maintenance is carried out within the framework of a municipal contract for the servicing of public areas. If the play area is located on the territory of a multi-apartment building, the management companies, homeowners' associations, or housing cooperatives are obliged to monitor its condition.
The administration noted that the safety requirements for children's playgrounds are not limited to the visual condition of the structures. The equipment must comply with the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as GOSTs and building standards. They define the requirements for the design of play elements, materials, surfaces, and operating conditions.
At the same time, there is another important rule: if the service life of the equipment has expired, it can no longer be used regardless of whether it appears to be functional or not.
The administration also provided examples of the dismantling of play elements in 2025. For instance, in the Novovyatsky district, a sports simulator was dismantled in the "On 7 Winds" square of the Raduzhny microdistrict. In the LPK park, a swing element was removed, and a damaged part of a children's plastic slide was replaced. In the Pervomaisky district, a wooden slide in Gagarin Park was dismantled due to concerns about its technical condition.
The city hall reported that upon discovering dangerous damages, access to the equipment is immediately restricted. Damaged elements are cordoned off with warning tape and warning signs are placed.
Kirov residents were also reminded that they can report malfunctions or dangerous elements to the management company, homeowners' association, housing cooperative, or local government authorities, depending on whose land the playground is located on.
At the same time, the question remains open, which concerns many parents: if emergency structures are removed, how quickly new ones appear in their place. After all, for children, it is important not only to be free from danger but also to have a space where they can play, socialize, and spend time in the yard.
