The first meeting of the interdepartmental commission on AI was held in the Kirov region government. It was chaired by Governor Alexander Sokolov. The goal for 2026 is to achieve 14 key performance indicators for the implementation of artificial intelligence in five sectors.
Some solutions are already in operation. The "Forest Guardian" system allows forest fires to be detected not in a day, but in 10 minutes. The video analytics system "Safe School" automatically alerts staff in the event of threats and reduces response time by dozens of times. The intelligent transport system in the Kirov urban agglomeration has reduced travel time on major highways by more than one and a half times — traffic lights optimize their operation based on sensor readings. A decision support system for medical professionals has been deployed in healthcare institutions.
Under an agreement with Tatarstan, the region gained access to the "GosPrompt" platform — it is used for legal document verification and generating analytical reports. The AI commissioner in Tatarstan, Bulat Zamaliev, noted that the Kirov region is one of the first to launch a pilot project for the implementation of artificial intelligence in government operations.
Ruslan Tsukanov, chairman of the Kirov Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, reported a request from factories for analytics and forecasting services. This concerns demand forecasts for industrial goods, taking into account macroeconomics and external economic dynamics. The union is ready to facilitate data exchange between enterprises and the regional analytical platform.
Following the meeting, Sokolov instructed the heads of executive authorities to analyze the sectoral performance indicators of AI, study successful cases on the "Digital Region" platform, and present proposals for the roadmap project for the implementation of artificial intelligence in the Kirov region.
At the same time, the government emphasized that management decisions remain with humans. AI offers options but does not replace people. Questions of morality and what is embedded in the options are the responsibility of officials, not neural networks.
