While such vehicles are rarely stolen now, the situation may change due to the high cost of spare parts. For example, headlights for some "Haval" models cost over 120,000 rubles, and the rear door for the "Chery Tiggo 7 Pro" is over 130,000 rubles. According to specialists, premium cars are often stolen for resale with fake documents and altered VIN numbers, while mass models are usually dismantled for parts. Cars most often disappear from unguarded parking lots and yards at night. Parking lots near shopping centers also remain popular spots for car thieves. The most dangerous cities in terms of thefts traditionally remain Moscow and St. Petersburg, with Samara and Surgut also appearing in some rankings.
