Future builders from VyatSU presented projects for the improvement of significant areas in the region.
On May 28, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture of Vyatka State University held a defense of projects created by second-year students in the "Construction" program as part of the "Project Activity" course under the guidance of Associate Professor Natalia Druzhkova from the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning.
Traditionally, all projects were characterized by a pronounced practical orientation. This year, two topics were developed: "Improvement of the urban garden in the city of Urzhum and the embankment of the Urzhumka River" and "Improvement of the embankment of the village of Borovitsa in the Kirov region." These are undoubtedly significant and beloved corners of Vyatka land. Let us remind you that the city of Urzhum, located on the left bank of the Urzhumka River, is famous for its majestic Trinity Cathedral, built in the late 19th century in the Neo-Russian style. The urban garden and embankment located in close proximity to the cathedral need renovation and improvement.
The village of Borovitsa is located in the Slobodsky district and is part of the Lenin rural settlement. This place is known to the residents of the region primarily for the popular recreation center that existed in the past. Now, the former buildings are in an emergency state. The embankment of the Vyatka River, on which the village is located, also needs renovation.
Two major topics were thoroughly worked on by 7 student teams. As a result, three projects were prepared for Borovitsa and four for Urzhum. The experts at the defense included the head of the Lenin rural settlement Sergey Savinykh, the chief architect of the Slobodsky district Artem Zyazev, architect Svetlana Okuneva, and representative of the charitable foundation "Heritage of Vyatka" Alexey Styazkin.
The director of the Polytechnic Institute of VyatGU Olga Rubleva, the dean of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture Olga Sinitsyna, and teachers from various departments of the FSA also came to listen to the students' presentations.
During the defense, students conducted an excursion into the history of the settlements, talked about their work on the situational plan. They confirmed that the study of the existing situation took place directly on site, where the second-year students, together with Natalia Vladimirovna, visited multiple times. The future builders detailed the algorithm for preparing the territory for renovation, familiarized the audience with sketches and estimates, and presented options for visualizing the expected appearance of the territories.
One of the projects for the improvement of the territory of Urzhum was called "Cranes."
— The idea came about by chance. We studied analogs of our project and found an interesting solution with lamps made in the shape of cranes, — said team leader Nikita Dyadkin.
As a result, a symbolic intersection was created: the name of the outstanding poet Nikolai Zabolotsky, the author of the poem "Cranes," which has a deep philosophical subtext, is associated with Urzhum.
Commenting on the work on the project, Nikita also noted:
— In my opinion, this is a very useful experience. After all, it was work with a client, it is really in demand.
The Trinity Cathedral in Urzhum is very beautiful - and everything around it needs to be done beautifully.
Absolutely all student projects were completed at a worthy level. In addition to professional competencies, the students demonstrated expressive and articulate speech, the ability to communicate freely and answer the experts' questions.
The experts, in turn, highly appreciated the presentations of the second-year students. Alexey Styazkin praised the students for their accuracy in working with the symbols of Urzhum, calling it a complex task. Svetlana Okuneva shared:
— In Borovitsa, construction is actively underway now, and many young people have appeared. There is a desire to revive the village, to breathe new life into the territory.
Our cooperation with the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of VyatGU has been ongoing for the second year. This year, we noted the realism of the winning project. It is quite applicable to our conditions. We will strive to implement it. While awarding the teams, Sergey Savinykh and Artem Zyazev stated that all the ideas voiced during the defense would be useful in making the final decision.
Commenting on the work of her students, Natalia Druzhkova admitted:
— I aimed to teach them to conduct research: so that the students understand how to work with residents during surveys, how to properly place small architectural forms on the site.
The second-year students fully tried themselves in the profession. Their results were pleasing.
