Almost 40% of the water supply networks in the Kirov region need to be replaced.
According to the information from the department, the total length of water supply networks in the region by the end of 2025 exceeded 7.6 thousand km. Of these, 38% (almost 3 thousand km) needed replacement. The most worn-out networks are the intra-block (intra-yard) networks — 45%. Meanwhile, the average for the Volga Federal District is 48%.
The length of thermal and steam networks was almost 2 thousand km, 28% of which required replacement. This corresponds to the average level in the Volga Federal District (28%) and is slightly below the national average (30%). The highest wear of heat networks in the district was recorded in Samara region (43%) and Tatarstan (41%).
The sewage networks in the region amount to 2.5 thousand km, of which 43% need replacement. For comparison: in Samara region, this figure reaches 66%, in Ulyanovsk — 38%.
In 2025, there were 440 accidents on water supply networks in Kirov region, 167 on thermal and steam networks, and 32 on sewage networks.
At the same time, the pace of infrastructure renewal remains low. Over the year, less than 2% of thermal networks were replaced from their total length, 1% of water supply networks, and less than 1% of sewage networks.
In total, the region has 1,124 sources of heat supply (boiler houses and CHPPs), which produced almost 8 million Gcal of thermal energy. Water supply was provided by 1,256 water pipelines, and wastewater disposal by 226 sewage systems. A total of 66.6 million cubic meters of wastewater passed through treatment facilities, of which 99% underwent complete biological treatment.
It should be noted that in the first few months of 2026, there were two major accidents on the networks in Kirov: in early February, six apartment buildings and two kindergartens were left without heating due to an accident on the heat networks in the Kurichkin settlement, and at the end of the month, a water pipeline burst at the intersection of Lenin and Azin streets, flooding the roadway in the city center.
